Looking After a Felted Pet: A Short, Honest Care Guide

· 4 min read · by the Felted Pet studio

Keep it out of direct sun

Sunlight fades dyed wool faster than it fades a printed photograph. A wall that gets afternoon sun will visibly lighten a portrait within a year.

Dust, do not wash

A soft makeup brush once a month is enough. Water reactivates the felting process and can shrink or distort a piece permanently.

The one thing never to do

Do not put a felted pet in a sealed plastic box for storage. Wool needs to breathe; sealed plastic traps moisture and invites moths. Use tissue paper and a cardboard box with a cedar block instead.

Thinking about a piece of your own?

Send us four photos and we will tell you honestly what will work and what will not, before you pay anything.
